Following a recent planning meeting with Local Authority officials and partner agencies the decision has been taken to postpone the upcoming Terminal V Festival given the extreme pressure currently facing the NHS.
Unfortunately, the decision makers believe it is currently not safe to push ahead this year. With a heavy heart we have been left with no choice but to postpone.
Given the nature and scale of Terminal V, now the UK’s largest indoor music festival, the event has been deemed to be a higher risk at this time than any other events currently scheduled to go ahead in Scotland.
We fully understand that this will come as a major disappointment to our loyal 40,000 ticket holders planning their trip to Edinburgh for Halloween weekend.
With festivals and events now happening up and down the country, this decision is particularly hard to bear, but we must stay strong and hold on another 5 months for what will be the biggest, most incredible Terminal V to date.
We have persevered in the hope that this Halloween event could happen but this time the odds have been stacked against us due to events out of our control. The event will be postponed 5 months to Easter 2022 and we are now working closely with the Local Authority and partner agencies to finally see the Festival restart in 2022. We thank them for their commitment to the future of the event in Edinburgh.
All customer tickets will be automatically transferred over to these new dates. An email with the next steps and full details will soon be sent out to all customers.
Terminal V has had a hugely positive impact in Edinburgh, ‘the city of Festivals’ and youth culture in Scotland. The event was set to create almost 2000 jobs over the weekend alone, 10,000+ hotel/guest rooms booked in the city and deliver a substantial boost to the recovering local economy / hospitality sector. The event has been supported heavily the last 18 months+ by Visit Scotland, Creative Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Event Scotland to ensure we continue to add value and support Scotland’s Perfect Stage strategy. We have been working tirelessly towards giving back to our community and will continue to do so in 2022.
On a more positive note, we have been permitted to run a weekend of smaller alternative events over Nov 12 weekend, with priority tickets available to the Terminal V ticket holders. Details will be announced very soon.
We fully appreciate the time and efforts from all the various event agencies and partners in the planning stages thus far and we are committed to working closely with them on the safe and responsible delivery of the event in April 2022 in more normal times.
We share the pain on how disappointing this announcement is for our industry, especially for our amazing Terminal V community up and down the UK and further afield. Be rest assured the festival will bounce back in 2022.
