Terminal V Podcast 070 || JUDE BRADSHAW

Glasgow’s Jude Bradshaw is a real rising star in the trance and techno underground and he has just had an epic summer. After making plenty of bold moves on the national scene, he recently went international with a series of gigs across Europe where he showcased his dexterity as a DJ.

His fresh, contemporary sounds are as high on energy as they are emotion and you can hear some brand new, unreleased tunes from him in this week’s mix. They sit amongst big moments from the likes of Fenrick, Funk Tribe, recent podcaster Pafait and many more in a 60-minute selection that is underpinned by an infectious bounce. Up top are a range of neon synth lines and hooky, pitched-up vocals that tug at the heartstrings while you reach for the lasers.

Read on to hear about how DJ and production relate to one another, his future plans and what it was like playing abroad for the first time.

How has summer been, what have been the highlights?

This summer has been great, I’ve spent loads of time working on new tracks and recording mixes like this one. The main highlight has been making my international debut in Munich, Germany with Speed Master Records.

You made your international debut back in May. What was it like, how different was it to playing home crowds, what did you learn?

My international debut back in May was an unreal experience for me. The crowds in Europe are so full of energy from start to finish so it was so it was one of my favourite sets to date. I learned that the crowds abroad can dance for much longer than here in the UK as it was my first time leaving the club at 6am and seeing daylight.

You have a couple of unreleased bits of yours in the mix. When were they written, what was the aim, how do they compare to previous stuff of yours?

Over the last few months I’ve enjoyed producing both my usual trancey tracks and experimenting with some hard trance/hard bounce tracks which are my two favourite genres to play. With these tracks, I’ve tried to create less of an emotional vibe and focussed more on making bouncy hard hitters for the club scene.

How do producing and DJing relate to one another for you. Do you make turns to fit in your set? Do your sets inspire your studio sessions?

For me, my journey has been a bit different from most other DJs as I began producing tracks years before I learned how to DJ. This helped me massively when it came to learning how to mix as I already had an understanding for music and how tracks are created. When producing music, I’m often inspired by recent events I have attended and I always try to create tracks around certain elements from tracks that stood out to me.

Tell us about your mix, the aim you had with it, and what you wanted it to say.

With this mix, I intended to start slower with some trance/hardgroove tracks and slowly progress to play some faster hard bounce tracks as I do in all my sets. In addition to this, I always like to showcase some unreleased tracks by me and also some talented friends.

What gear did you use, is that important to you in any way whether in the booth or studio?

I recorded this mix in my house with my CDJ2000NXS1s and DJM 800. Personally I’m not bothered whether the gear at an event is Pioneer or Xone, I always enjoy switching it up.

What are you up to as we head into autumn, what’s in the works?

In the coming months I’ve got 2 collab EPs coming out. One with A-05, and one with Ventur, along side some other exciting single releases. Furthermore I’m looking forward to making my debut in places such as Dublin, Newcastle, and again, playing in Germany.
