Terminal V was the first festival that GALLØ ever went to, and was the first place he heard one of his own tracks being played. Back in April, he played for the first time and opened one of the main stages in a way that truly announced his arrival on the scene. Since then, he has played all across the UK and Europe and continues to be a favourite artist of EXHALE boss Amelie Lens, who released his first-ever tune.

The Scottish artist has a sound that sits at the intersection of hard techno, acid, bounce and trance, always with neon colours and future sound designs that take you into a parallel world. All of that is laid out on his punchy, vibrant mix for us this week, with plenty of unreleased material of his own sat next to the likes of Charlotte De Witte, MXGN and Alignment. You're having a huge year. How has it been from your side, did you feel immediately at home, or has it taken time to get to grips with playing on bigger stages with more ears?

I think I’ve always felt at home relatively quickly. I have always enjoyed exploring new places so getting the privilege to do what I love at the same time is amazing!

You are a self-taught producer. What do you think are the pros and cons of that?

I think the biggest pro of being a self-taught producer is that I’ve made my own path and learned the parts of music production that genuinely interest me. The biggest con is probably the knowledge gaps. Sometimes I’ll know that something doesn’t sound right, but understanding why it doesn’t work from a technical point of view is a different skill. That’s something I am gradually picking up over the years through experience.

You have been playing Terminal V for a while now, starting on small stages and working your way up. What's it been like? How impactful has it been for your career progression?

I still remember going to my first Terminal V back in 2018, so to think that I’ve now played the festival three years in a row is pretty mind blowing. It’s had a huge impact on my career, not just from getting to play in front of bigger crowds but also from meeting some of the biggest artists in the scene and putting my name out there. I’ll always be grateful to the whole Terminal V team for believing in me and giving me those opportunities.

What's it been like to have the support of Amelie Lens since your first release? Has she been a mentor of sorts? What have you learnt from her?

The support from Amelie over the last couple of years has definitely shifted my direction in where I want to take my sound. Getting the opportunity to release on EXHALE not once but twice is truly a pinch me moment. It’s taught me that you’ve got to stay true to your sound and what stick to what you believe in. After that, the rest will eventually fall into place. I can’t thank Amelie and her team enough for everything.

Tell us about your mix, the aim you had with it, and what you wanted it to say.

The mix I put together includes some of my own unreleased tracks & music from my favourite artists at the moment. I really wanted to showcase the sound that I’m into just now and what inspires me when I’m in the studio

What gear did you use? Is that important to you in any way, whether in the booth or studio?

Equipment wise I feel like I am quite diverse, I enjoy making music in the studio but even whilst traveling and being on the move

What are you working on for the rest of the year?

I always write down goals I want to achieve at the beginning of each year, I’m going to aim to tick off some more of those goals and fingers crossed be able to share a bit more about what’s in the pipe linesoon!
