Terminal V Podcast 083 || VENTUR

Ventur was one of the many standout debutants at Terminal V festival last year, which is why we’ve invited him back for a podcast. He also made his international debut after quickly rising up through the UK scene and is now ready to push on once more in 2025. His sounds have come on vital labels like Teletech, Exhale and Taapion and traverse several techno sub-genres, all of them united by irresistible energy.

Here we speak to him about his journey into electronic music from his native North West and how experiences on the dance floor inspired him to get involved, and he also speaks about playing abroad for the first time and the importance of road testing your own tunes.

The North West is not traditionally known for its electronic music scene. Is that fair, and if so how did you first get into the culture?

For dance music in particular I think it’s fair to say Liverpool and Manchester have held and revolutionised electronic music extremely well, for quite a while now through festivals such as Cream and now Teletech.

There is also a lot of new events popping up which are gaining a lot of success. Both of which hugely inspired me to get into music a few years ago, being in the crowd at these events gave me a lot of drive to start learning how to mix and also make my own productions.

You made your first DJ forays into Europe in 2024. What was it like playing to crowds there, are we all the same when the music drops or did you finds they reacted differently to different things you played?

Playing in another country was always one of my ultimate goals in my career, to have someone far away put their trust into you will never be taken for granted. The crowds so far have been pretty insane, I think every gig is different, through reading the crowd you always find the vibe that will fit the night, and you always get back the energy that you give.

You also made your festival debut at Terminal V. What was that like? How did you prep for it, what sticks in the mind when you think back to it?

I couldn’t quite believe it when the booking came through, it was my biggest gig at the time so I had a lot of pressure to bring out my best. I used the the debut to showcase a lot of my own music and the energy the crowd gave from the get go is something I’ll never forget 🙂

Do you find the more gigs you play, the more influence it has on the style, tempo and vibe of the music you’re making?

It definitely does impact the inspiration when making music, testing your own tracks at gigs helps you carve out and perfect the details that you might not recognise at home. I like to try and create a variety of tracks, as it gives more versatility when you play a slightly different set to normal (and also keeps you sane as a producer from making the same genre over and over haha)

Tell us about your mix, the aim you had with it, and what you wanted it to say.

The last few months I’ve been working hard on pushing a new sound for myself, a more bouncy trance vibe which is a lot softer than what we’re used to from me. The aim for this mix was to showcase the new style in a way that truly represents me and what I enjoy the most right now.

What gear did you use, is that important to you in any way whether in the booth or studio?

The setup I have to practice and record at home is a DJM & CDJ2000 MK2’s. I think it’s important to have a setup relatively similar to what you use in the club, as you get to know the equipment inside out, and truly feel comfortable with your own mixing.

What are you working on for the rest of the year?

I’m working on a lot more music this year, and I’m pushing myself for a strong schedule of releases with some brand new collab’s which I can’t wait to announce. One of which being a four track EP with Jude Bradshaw, something we’re extremely proud of and I think everyone will really enjoy these tracks. For gigs, I’m working with both agencies to plan some really interesting debuts coming in new cities & countries which I’m extremely excited for 🙂
